Fossil Fuels-Bioenergy
CCUS with hybrid fuels concept is very similar to CCUS with fossil fuels. The only difference is that the fuel used for power generation is switched from fossil fuels to a hybrid fuel consisting of both fossil fuel and biomass sources.
The incorporation of biomass to fossil fuel for power production can help reduce the overall emissions of CO2 from power production generated as compared to generation from only fossil fuel. A hybrid fuel can be applied to either pre-combustion or post-combustion technology.
CCUS techniques used for the two technologies can be fully applied to CCUS with a hybrid fuel.
